LWV members registered 67 high school students earlier this month. See details under Voter Service Committee activities tab at left.

Thanks to Sue Myers, who stepped up to be the treasurer. The position will be confirmed at the annual meeting.

At the program planning meeting Feb. 20, we agreed to stick with the four areas we have been working in for several years: transportation, voter services, education and natural resources. An added topic was campaign finance reform, with a view to getting state and national to pursue it again to attempt to cut the amount of money that can be spent.

Meetings

Membership meeting May 21, 11:30 a.m., Applewood; speaker is Rob Salvino, research economist at Coastal Carolina University. He will tell us what it means when we hear "the economy." Salvino says it is part of his responsibility to present to community groups. He is young, affable, and articulate, Aggie reports.

Mark your calendar for June 4, annual meeting; details to come. Probably about 6 p.m. with light refreshments, to get our brief business agenda done and catch up with each other.
